1968 Oldsmobile designated the 4-4-2 as its own model and no longer an option that was added to a standard Cutlass. This really put the 4-4-2 in a class all in its own. There are some who think that a 455ci was available in 1968 for the 4-4-2, which is not true. Only the 400ci was available. You could get a 455ci if you had ordered the Hurst/Olds.
This model year, the body work was more smother than the 1967. The the front end protruded into a point in the middle that reminds me of a bird’s beak. This was also the last year that Oldsmobile would install vent windows on the door.
